Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced travel RN for a Medical ICU position at a large academic teaching facility in Vermont, requiring prior travel experience, Epic proficiency, and advanced critical care skills including CRRT, ECMO, and vent management.
Responsibilities- Medical ICU (MICU) setting within a large academic teaching hospital, with overflow neuro patients
- 12-hour night shifts, scheduled Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling
- 16-week contract with potential extension up to 32 weeks
- Required to float to the SICU, Miller 3, and Miller 4 units
- Epic EMR used; recent experience required
- Caseload includes multi-system disease, CRRT, IABP, ECMO, COVID, mechanical ventilation, and management of multiple titrating drips
- Bi-weekly orientations held on Mondays; next available orientation is 4/20
- Must work 2 out of 4 designated holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day - Public transportation is not accessible in this area; a personal or rental vehicle with all-season or snow tires (November–April) is strongly recommended
- Candidates with employment gaps over 90 days should be prepared to provide an explanation
- Radius rule applies: distance is measured in a straight line, not by driving distance
- Active VT or Compact RN license; NY license candidates will be considered with proof of pending licensure
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start date
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Large academic teaching facility experience required
- Proficiency in Epic EMR within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- Must be skilled in IV insertion, management of multiple titrating drips, CRRT, IABP, ECMO, and critical vent care
- Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — at least one from within the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
