American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Medical ICU position at a large academic teaching facility in Vermont, requiring prior travel experience and proficiency with complex critical care modalities.
Responsibilities- Medical ICU (MICU) with overflow neuro patients at a large academic teaching hospital
- Required to float to SICU, Miller 3, and Miller 4
- 12-hour night shifts, scheduled Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling
- Minimum of every other weekend required, with scheduling adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
- Patient care involves multi-system disease, CRRT, IABP, ECMO, COVID, mechanical ventilation, and multiple titrating drips
- Epic EMR experience required (within the past 2 years)
- Provide critical care nursing to MICU and overflow neuro patients, including management of multiple titrating drips, critical vent care, and complex multi-system disease
- Public transportation is not accessible in this area — a personal or rental vehicle with all-season or snow tires (November through April) is strongly recommended
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type is required for consideration
- This is not a position for first-time travelers — prior travel experience is required
- Active RN license — VT or compact license accepted; NY license accepted with proof of pending licensure
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Large academic teaching facility experience required
- Proficiency with IV insertion, titrating drips, critical vent care, CRRT, IABP, and ECMO required
- Epic experience from within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — at least one from within the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
