Unit Description
The Infusion Nurse in Ambulatory Oncology provides chemotherapy and biologic therapies to adult patients with complex illness. Key aspects of this direct‑care role include insertion of peripheral intravenous catheters, establishing access via implanted devices, administration of systemic chemotherapy and biotherapies, supporting the infusion patient who is participating in clinical trials, and comprehensive patient assessment and education.
Schedule: The incumbent will work a combination of 1 weekday (either Friday or Monday) from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm and 1 weekend day (either Saturday or Sunday) from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
On‑call: Not required.
Requirements- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont.
- ADN required; BSN preferred.
- Appropriate experience in specific clinical area; varies by unit.
- Education:
State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. - Experience:
1 year in a relevant clinical area and/or independence in all areas of the Ambulatory RN I accountabilities. - Certification preferred:
Chemotherapy Certification and Oncology Certification. - All external candidates hired into an RN position will be required to obtain a BSN, as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.
- Internal RNs are encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative.
