Cone Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Orthopedic unit in a full-time night shift role (Registered Nurse Ortho FT Nights 8k SOBO). As part of a not-for-profit health care network serving the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to adult orthopedic patients requiring surgical and non-surgical treatment. In this role, you will deliver direct bedside care during night shifts, caring for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries such as joint replacements and fracture repairs, as well as those with complex musculoskeletal conditions. You will perform ongoing assessments, including pain, neurovascular, and wound evaluations; administer medications and IV therapies; manage dressings and drains; and monitor for potential post-operative complications. Using your clinical judgment, you will develop and implement individualized plans of care, document thoroughly in the electronic health record, and communicate changes in patient status promptly to the provider team.
You will collaborate closely with physicians, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, and fellow nurses to coordinate care that promotes early mobility, fall prevention, and safe discharge planning. Education is a key component of this role; you will teach patients and families about post-operative care, mobility restrictions, use of assistive devices, pain management strategies, and follow-up needs to support a successful recovery ht shift RNs play a critical role in maintaining continuity of care, ensuring effective handoffs at shift change, and identifying early changes in patient condition.

Candidates should be graduates of an accredited nursing program and hold a current Registered Nurse license (or eligibility) in the state of North Carolina. A minimum of one year of recent acute care experience is preferred, ideally in orthopedics, surgical, or medical-surgical nursing, though motivated new graduate RNs with strong clinical rotations in these areas may be considered. BLS certification is required;
ACLS and Orthopedic Nursing Certification (ONC) are preferred or encouraged within an established timeframe after hire.
