Position Overview

As the RN Educator, you will lead educational initiatives that support employee development, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence throughout the facility. Working closely with nursing leadership, you will coordinate orientation, ongoing education, competency validation, and staff development programs that help ensure outstanding resident care.

This role also provides valuable clinical support through scheduled floor rotation and on‑call responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Recognized as a super user with all clinical aspects of the EMR and serves as a resource for facility staff.
  • Schedule, teach, and lead the BLS certification program based on facility needs; maintain equipment and records.
  • Schedule, teach, and lead the IV certification program based on facility needs; maintain equipment and records.
  • Perform staff vaccinations, health screenings, and other medical testing as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Unit Managers, Nurse Preceptors, Nurse Consultants and assist with annual clinical skills competency testing for licensed nursing staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for the Nurse Preceptors and new nurses in the facility, providing education and support during department‑based orientation.
  • Coordinate and/or lead delivery of corporate mandatory in‑service education for facility staff.
  • Plan and lead General Orientation Program (with support by other department heads) to acquaint new personnel to the facility.
  • Coordinate program development, implementation, and documentation of the NATP – Nursing Assistant Training Program (if applicable); serve as an instructor for scheduled classes.
  • Coordinate Prometric testing for Nursing Assistant Trainees and recording of certification, if applicable.
  • Schedule and deliver CNA and Support Aide orientation programs based on hiring needs.
  • Schedule and present training programs to ensure that Nursing Assistants complete six (6) hours of in‑service education every six (6) months.
  • Oversee tracking of in‑service education hours and generate reports utilizing LMS.
  • Enroll staff in LMS programs and track module completion and compliance.
  • Serve as an instructor for the licensed nurse orientation program at designated sites when needed.
  • Coordinate, with management, department‑based orientation programs for new staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, and present regular and special education sessions for nursing staff to acquaint them with new nursing practices, procedures, policies, or skills.
  • Prepare monthly in‑service education calendar and monthly report.
  • Coordinate schedule for periodic emergency drills including fire drills, disaster drills, and Code Blue drills and maintain records.
  • Attend facility staff meetings and lead In‑service Education.
Qualifications
  • Credentials of a Registered Professional nurse with a current NYS license required.
  • Baccalaureate degree preferred.
  • Experience in in‑service education or skills in teaching; at least one year experience in a long‑term health care facility required.
