VCBH Research Lab Assistant

The Vermont Center on Behavior and Health (VCBH) is an interdisciplinary, internationally-recognized research center committed to investigating relationships between personal behavior patterns (i.e., lifestyle) and risk for chronic disease and premature death. VCBH's work has historically focused on health disparities for the most vulnerable populations, particularly among the socioeconomically disadvantaged, where these risk factors are over represented. The role will conduct the day-to-day tasks associated with running research investigating nicotine and tobacco use and interventions to reduce use.

Responsibilities include maintaining study databases, participant recruitment, meeting with participants, verifying participant consents, administering questionnaires, conducting interviews, blinding study tobacco products, managing study equipment and supplies, distributing study tobacco products, and coordinating and conducting study procedures. Oversee the distribution of participant compensation and purchase of equipment and supplies. Assist the Principal Investigator as needed with research related activities and with IRB-approved protocols and the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and manuscripts.

Other duties include maintaining files and records, using discretion regarding sensitive information, and maintaining confidentiality within the framework of the University guidelines. Position reports to Principal Investigator and receives functional supervision from the project manager and/or biostatistician.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) - Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is required, preferably in a related field such as, psychology, social work, or medical areas and one to three years' related experience is preferred. Must have experience with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ideally experience or training in data management.

Desirable Qualifications
- Attention to detail and an interest in behavioral health research. Experience in research is desirable and specific experience with study management would be considered a particular strength. Experience working with participants in a research setting is a strength.

Anticipated Pay Range - $24.00 - $28.00/hour, depending on experience

Special Conditions - A probationary period may be required, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
