Scoop Shop Team Member - Burlington, VT

Overview

Part‑time, seasonal Team Member position at Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., Burlington, Vermont. The role supports the Manager with daily scoop shop operations, customer service, cash handling, and ice‑cream production.

• Assist the Manager in the daily operations of the scoop shop.
• Ensure all products are served to customers as outlined in the Team Member’s Training Handbook.
• Learn all operating systems, products, flavors, and safety standards.
• Support shift operations, including store appearance, customer service, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and operating standards.
• Maintain merchandising and inventory of waffle cones, cakes, novelties, and baked goods.
• Provide friendly, timely service and proper product handling to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Support the Manager in meeting sales goals by following upselling strategies and sampling flavors.
• Follow opening and closing procedures, ensuring they are executed in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper product portioning through daily scoop practice, track lost product, and record product usage on the daily ice‑cream inventory form.
• Follow all cash register and cash handling systems to ensure the accuracy of all register and cash transactions.

• Scooper: Scoop all menu items, upsell customers, know all ice‑cream flavor ingredients, ensure accurate cash handling and register procedures, and provide excellent customer service.
• Restock: Supply co‑workers with ice‑cream bulks, restock paper products, toppings, spoons, and provide assistance with any needs.
• Waffler: Make fresh baked waffle cones for the scoop lines, maintaining accurate portion control and speed.
• Table Runner: Clean the customer area, outdoor café area, sweep floors, wash table tops, empty garbage, clean bathrooms, fold shirts, wipe countertops, and assist guests with seating or carrying cones to their tables.
• Flavor Coach: Assist guests by answering menu or flavor ingredient questions, providing trivia, and enhancing the customer experience.

• Strong mathematics skills, comfortable handling money and counting back change.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a self‑starter.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while serving customers.
• Highly organized, energetic, team‑oriented with a positive “can‑do” attitude.
• Physical ability to lift bulk ice‑cream containers up to 17 pounds, handle overhead merchandise, and stand for up to 8 hours per day.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays; store open 7 days per week.
