Job Description
Security Officers – Greater Burlington, Vermont
Securitas is hiring for multiple part‑time and full‑time security officer positions to keep our client sites safe in Greater Burlington, Vermont.
Compensation & Locations- Starting Pay: $20.00+/hr (varies by site)
- Locations:
South Burlington and/or Essex, VT
- Schedule 1 – Essex ($20.70/hr):
Fridays 8:00 am–5:00 pm, Saturdays & Sundays 8:00 am–4:00 pm (25 hrs) - Schedule 2 – Downtown Burlington ($22.11/hr):
Fridays & Saturdays, 3:30 pm–11:30 pm (16 hrs) - Schedule 3 – Burlington Waterfront ($22.11/hr):
Saturdays & Sundays overnight, 9:30 pm–5:30 am (16 hrs) - Schedule 4 – Burlington ($20.00/hr):
Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday overnight, 7:30 pm–7:30 am (48 hrs)

- Full‑time availability can lead to shifts across multiple sites for up to 40 hrs/week.

- Strong customer service skills required.
- Surveillance:
Monitor cameras and patrol premises to detect suspicious activity. - Access control:
Enforce policies, check IDs, issue visitor passes, and restrict access. - Emergency response:
Respond promptly to alarms, medical, fire, or criminal incidents, and report to law enforcement as needed. - Incident reporting:
Document incidents, suspicious activity, and breaches in clear, accurate reports. - Patrolling:
Conduct foot or vehicle patrols to ensure all areas are secure. - Customer service:
Greet and assist visitors or employees professionally. - Safety inspections:
Identify hazards, fire risks, and conditions that may compromise safety. - Conflict resolution:
Handle minor disputes using de‑escalation skills. - Collaboration:
Work with other security staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
- Excellent observational and de‑escalation skills; remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communicator, able to work closely with both global and local teams.
- Committed to ethical practices and safety protocols.
- Intermediate computer skills required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Reliable means of communication.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
- Effective written and spoken English.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must obtain a Vermont Guard Card (security guard license) after being hired.
