Bicycle Mechanic

North Star Sports is a family-owned 40 year old retailer in Vermont. We are seeking a skilled Bike Mechanic / E-Bike Technician to join our service team.

This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of bicycles and electric bikes, from commuter and city bikes to performance road, mountain, cargo, and electric models. Our service department works directly with customers and sales staff to ensure every bike leaves the shop safe, reliable, and dialed-in.

Because we service a broad mix of brands, models, and usage levels—from lightly used to heavily ridden—this position offers variety, challenge, and opportunities for continued technical growth.

• Perform complete bicycle and e-bike service independently, including:
• Intake and inspection
• Diagnostics and fault finding
• Parts selection and installation
• Repairs, adjustments, and quality control
• Service a wide variety of bikes, including e-bikes, road, mountain, hybrid, city, and cargo models
• Maintain efficient repair turnaround times while upholding North Star Sports service standards
• Work collaboratively with service writers, sales staff, and other mechanics
• Assist with receiving, setup, and assembly of new bikes as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Contribute ideas to improve shop workflow, service processes, and customer experience

• Proven experience as a bike mechanic or technician
• 3+ years for Senior Bike Mechanic
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• E-bike service experience preferred (Bosch, Shimano, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple repairs efficiently
• Passion for quality workmanship and continuous improvement
• Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and customers
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
