Facilities Repair person
Join the University of Vermont's Housing & Dining Services team and make a direct impact on the lives of residential students! As a Facilities Repair person, you'll help maintain safe, functional, and welcoming living environments across our residence halls. This is a hands-on role where no two days are exactly alike — from carpentry and interior repairs to room inspections and mentoring summer staff.
You'll work as part of a collaborative team that values student well-being and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least four years of experience in general maintenance and/or carpentry, familiarity with finish carpentry tools, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. A valid Vermont driver's license (or ability to obtain one) is required, along with the ability to complete 16-hour asbestos awareness and Vermont Essential Maintenance Practices training. Experience reading blueprints and maintenance manuals is a plus.
This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position. Hours are 7:00 AM–3:30 PM during the academic year and 6:00 AM–2:30 PM in the summer. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience reading blueprints and maintenance and operations manuals is highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range - $22-$24/hour
Work Schedule:
Academic Year: M-F, 7:00am –3:30pm (½ hour unpaid lunch) Summer: M-F, 6:00am – 2:30 pm (½ hour unpaid lunch)
Special Conditions - A probationary period may be required, Background Check required for this position, A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required
