Position Summary
Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and controls. Perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment to include chillers, freezers, refrigerators, coolers, etc. Confer with supervisor(s) regarding all aspects of assigned duties and communicate with University campus partners regarding all aspects of requests. Access information utilizing computers.
Promote a workplace culture that encourages safety within the shop and in the field. Operate a University vehicle to transport materials, tools, and equipment. May be required to operate an aerial lift.
- High School diploma, Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification or ability to acquire within six months
- Three years’ experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance, and repair
- Refrigerant Recovery Certification required
- Experience using computers and mobile technology required
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check required
- Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing specific job functions
- Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening
- Vermont Type S C3 License
$31.00 - $37.00 per hour
Special ConditionsPosition may be hired as either HVAC Mechanic (no VT Type S C3 license) or HVAC Technician (holds VT Type S C3 license) level depending upon qualifications of the selected candidate. A probationary period may be required. Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt may result in overtime). This position is ineligible for telework due to essential functions. Background check required.
A post‑offer pre‑employment (POPE test) physical examination is required. FLSA Non‑Exempt. Union Position Yes, UE ($18.50 minimum hourly rate).
