Acute Residential Counselor Youth – Transition House
The Transition House is a 4‑bed residential treatment program in Essex, VT. The goal of the work is to promote and support successful transitions for adolescent males back into their communities. The role involves being a teacher, mentor, mediator and life coach to residents, while developing therapeutic relationships and modeling healthy living skills.
Responsibilities- Model and teach independent living skills.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with residents.
- Implement conflict resolution strategies.
- Teach healthy emotion regulation skills.
- Assist with daily living activities for adolescents in the residential home.
- Provide appropriate level of supervision.
- A combination of skills, experience and/or education.
- A valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.
- Travel throughout Chittenden County.
- Minimum age requirement of 21.
- Ability to make decisions in a crisis independently.
- Full‑time (40 hrs).
- AFSCME Union (dues will apply).
- Non‑exempt.
- Starting at $22.75 an hour.
- Salaries commensurate with experience.
- Generous time off starting at 36 days of combined time off per year for full‑time employees (pro‑rated for positions 16 hrs or more).
