Acute Residential Counselor Youth – Transition House

The Transition House is a 4‑bed residential treatment program in Essex, VT. The goal of the work is to promote and support successful transitions for adolescent males back into their communities. The role involves being a teacher, mentor, mediator and life coach to residents, while developing therapeutic relationships and modeling healthy living skills.

• Model and teach independent living skills.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with residents.
• Implement conflict resolution strategies.
• Teach healthy emotion regulation skills.
• Assist with daily living activities for adolescents in the residential home.
• Provide appropriate level of supervision.

• A combination of skills, experience and/or education.
• A valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.
• Travel throughout Chittenden County.
• Minimum age requirement of 21.
• Ability to make decisions in a crisis independently.

• Full‑time (40 hrs).
• AFSCME Union (dues will apply).
• Non‑exempt.
• Starting at $22.75 an hour.
• Salaries commensurate with experience.
