Community Outreach Specialist
Collaborate with local police departments to address community safety concerns and provide support to individuals in the community. This position spends time working in the police departments that we serve. Provide education to community members to destigmatize vulnerable populations and understand how supportive services impact our community.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with law enforcement and respond to calls at the request of local police departments dispatch or officer
- Provide immediate triage and outreach intervention in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, and child, youth, and family services
- Monitor and prevent escalation of symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse within the community
- Provide interim case management services for individuals before linking them with appropriate community providers
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle
- Four years' combination of experience, skills and/or education
- Evening and weekend availability
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Favorable background checks through the Police Department
Structure:
Full-time (37.5 hours) Non-exempt Starting at $28.02 an hour
