Civil Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in preparing accurate, competitive estimates and proposals for complex heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate brings deep experience estimating large-scale infrastructure projects and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

This is an onsite position requiring five days per week in the office with minimal travel.

Reporting directly to the Chief Estimator, you will lead the preparation of complete project estimates and proposals from conceptual designs through fully developed construction documents.

• Prepare detailed construction estimates by analyzing plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Review and interpret bid documents to support the successful completion of competitive proposals.
• Identify, solicit, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Visit project sites when applicable to validate project scope and site conditions.
• Develop quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and pricing strategies.
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing project information and market trends.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Operations teams during project buyout and execution.
• Support design-build pursuits by coordinating with design teams and helping develop technical proposals.
• Utilize estimating software to perform estimate setup, cost reviews, and bid pricing.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, materials, equipment, and construction methodologies.

Candidates must have estimating experience within Heavy Civil Construction.

Experience should include one or more of the following:

• Wastewater infrastructure
• Bridges
• Underground utility construction
• Underground piping systems

• Approximately 10–20 years of construction industry experience
• Minimum 5 years estimating projects valued at $5M+
• Experience as a Civil Estimator, Project Manager with estimating responsibilities, or Superintendent with estimating responsibilities
• Strong understanding of heavy civil construction means, methods, and sequencing

• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Management, or related field preferred
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid required
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Self-motivated, process-oriented, and results-driven mindset
• High level of integrity and professionalism

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to complete employment eligibility verification (E-Verify)
• Ability to pass drug screening and background checks as required
