Hospital Manager - Chuckanut Valley Veterinary Clinic

Join our team as a Hospital Manager who works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The role partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation, driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.

Chuckanut Valley Veterinary Clinic in Burlington, WA, offers comprehensive veterinary care for companion animals, including routine wellness exams, preventive care, dentistry, diagnostics, surgery, grooming, boarding, and nutritional counseling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff in all support departments and achieve labor goals.
  • Hire, train, and manage office and technical clinic support staff.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback.
  • Document and report accidents and file appropriate reports.
  • Write policies and procedures for technical aspects of the hospital.
  • Manage staff schedules and coordinate the DVM.
  • Monitor workforce management for missed punches and overtime.
  • Administer daily operations and ensure compliance with administrative responsibilities.
  • Monitor budgets, purchase equipment and supplies, and oversee facility maintenance.
  • Submit vendor and veterinarian invoices, ensuring accuracy and obtaining W-9s.
  • Assist in resolving issues with pet owners when appropriate.
  • Review revenue, labor, and employee metrics with leadership on a weekly basis.
  • Handle local accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Oversee inventory management and documentation systems.
  • Manage billing practices, maintain accuracy, and oversee charge capturing.
  • Negotiate contracts with insurance providers as needed.
  • Maintain current licensure and display for DVMs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, health science, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five years of direct office management experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent customer-service skills, courteous, prompt, and efficient.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and organizational software.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexible scheduling with availability for some weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work with sick animals, hazardous materials, chemicals, anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
  • Physical requirements may include standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA).
  • Strong analytical skills for financial analysis.

Pay Range: $78,000 — $85,000 USD
