Job Title:
Grade Setter
We are seeking an experienced Grade Setter for a temporary assignment on a commercial construction project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate grades for excavation, utilities, concrete, and site development work. Candidates must have experience using grading lasers and related survey equipment to ensure elevations and layout are set correctly. Knowledge of setting and maintaining grade for utility installations and earthwork is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Set and verify grades for excavation, utilities, foundations, and site work.
- Operate and understand laser levels, pipe lasers, and other grading equipment.
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and grade stakes.
- Work closely with equipment operators, foremen, and project managers to ensure project specifications are met.
- Check elevations and measurements throughout the project.
- Assist with layout and field measurements as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all job site safety requirements.
- Identify and communicate potential grading issues before they impact production.
- Work efficiently in various weather and site conditions.
- Previous experience as a Grade Setter, Utility Laborer, Pipe Layer, Survey Assistant, or similar construction role.
- Strong understanding of grading techniques and elevation control.
- Experience using lasers for grading and layout is required.
- Ability to read grade stakes, plans, and construction drawings.
- Familiarity with commercial construction job sites.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Utility installation experience.
- Knowledge of excavation, underground utilities, and site development.
- Experience working around heavy equipment.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
