Reports To:

Chief Estimator

Scherrer estimators are responsible for managing the bidding process and reviewing, sourcing, and preparing budget estimates during the preconstruction phase of our commercial and residential projects. In addition, our estimators work with internal and external teams, generate accurate scopes of work and pricing, and participate in project walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings.

• Accurately calculate project costs for construction projects.
• Develop subcontractor relations and maintain subcontractor database.
• Obtain bids and qualify compliance to bid documents.
• Manage RFIs during bidding and collaborate with architects and engineers.
• Effectively use quantity takeoff software.
• Assist in maintaining cost database.
• Review subcontractor qualifications.
• Develop estimates for multiple market sectors (e.g., retail, office, multifamily, education).
• Detailed estimating for demolition, concrete, masonry, carpentry a plus.
• Prepare conceptual and final construction budgets.
• Professionally represent the Scherrer Construction team and brand.

• Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
• 0-5 years of experience in a construction estimator position.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
• Understanding of contractual terms and conditions, construction processes, materials, and workflow.
• A demonstrated understanding of construction methods associated with the renovation and construction of commercial buildings and site work.
• Detail-oriented and task-focused.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, associates, vendors, contractors, consultants, and clients.
• Computer proficiency using industry-standard software and applications.
• Must be a committed team player.
