Process Engineer

The Process Engineer will analyze and optimize production processes to improve throughput, quality, and on-time delivery. This role focuses on refining material flow, work-center layouts, and standard work to drive consistency and efficiency on the shop floor. The Process Engineer will lead improvement projects, support new product introductions, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to reduce cycle times, minimize rework, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze production processes, material flow, work-center layouts, product routing, and labor utilization to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that increase throughput, reduce cycle time, improve first-pass yield, minimize rework, and support on-time delivery goals.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain standard work, work instructions, and process documentation to ensure repeatable and consistent production outcomes.
  • Work closely with Production and Quality teams to investigate defects, process variation, and recurring issues using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to improve manufacturability, test flow, assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, and overall process capability.
  • Apply data analysis, time studies, root cause analysis, Pareto analysis, process mapping, and visual management tools to drive measurable process improvements.
  • Support new product introductions and product transfers by validating production readiness, assessing process capability, and identifying risks prior to release.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to workstation layout, tooling, fixtures, test setups, material presentation, and production sequencing.
  • Track, quantify, and report the results of improvement initiatives, including productivity gains, cost reductions, yield improvements, lead-time reductions, and quality impacts.
  • Train and coach production employees on updated processes, standard work, and continuous improvement practices to ensure successful adoption.
  • Spend significant time on the production floor observing processes, supporting operators and technicians, and driving continuous improvement activities.

Experience:

  • Experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, production engineering, or continuous improvement role.
  • Strong understanding of production flow, manufacturing methods, process documentation, and shop-floor execution.
  • Comfort working with production data, identifying trends, and translating findings into practical, actionable improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on experience in root cause analysis and corrective action methods.
  • Ability to work effectively with operators, technicians, engineers, quality staff, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes and explain changes to diverse teams.
  • Willingness to spend significant time on the production floor to observe processes, support teams, and implement improvements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production flow in an industrial environment.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles, including waste reduction and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts and methods for process improvement and variation reduction.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret root cause analysis to address defects and recurring issues.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work with an ERP system to support production planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience designing or improving workstation layouts to support efficient production.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience using structured problem-solving tools such as Pareto analysis, process mapping, and visual management.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams on manufacturability, test flow, assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, and process capability.
  • Ability to…
