Medical Assistant, LPN

Provide patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice and follow applicable policies and procedures
Perform rooming and visit tasks, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings
Assist providers with or perform ordered procedures
Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling and packing, lab order preparation, and results tracking
Conduct point-of-care testing and CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests in accordance with CLIA standards
Administer medications and vaccines safely
Perform medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety and regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication and supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals
Cross-train to perform specialty or clinic practice duties within the Medical Assistant scope
Communicate effectively, collaborate with team members, and

Maintain a clean work environment and ensure equipment and supplies are clean, functional, and stocked
Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and developmental needs
Work Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30, with no weekends, holidays, or nights
Provide very occasional coverage at Lakeland Medical Center

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years (IL/WI Divisions)
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 45 days unless determined not required
• No experience required
• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency
• Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, Windows operating system navigation, electronic mail, and exposure to electronic medical records systems
• Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with fine-hand manipulation skills
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
• Ability to meet physical requirements including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching above shoulders
• Ability to work around mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body-fluid hazards while using protective equipment as needed

Demonstrates proficiency in patient care within the Medical Assistant scope, including vital signs, medication administration, and laboratory testing. Capable of effective communication and collaboration with healthcare teams while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
