Desktop Support Engineer – Independent Contractor (Full‑Time)

OverviewThe Desktop Support Engineer will provide first- and second-level technical support and coordinate service requests on site, ensuring timely resolution and strong communication with users and IT staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 3+ years of field support for IT infrastructure, troubleshooting hardware, software, and OS issues while respecting warranties and security compliance.
- Triage and prioritize tickets; manage individual queue to resolve routine and non‑routine desktop issues and requests.
- Escalate issues and act as a technical escalation point for end users.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and comply with desktop group practices and procedures.
- Update Service Now and other knowledge bases promptly.
- Identify technical and process issues, recommend improvements, and achieve target ticket volumes and resolution levels.
- Follow corporate policies and establish productive relationships with peers and management.
- Coordinate and consult with client areas to analyze problems and recommend technical solutions.
- Perform intermediate‑to‑advanced IMAC services and desk‑side support, including hardware roll‑outs, refreshes, installs, and troubleshooting.
- Handle software installation, support, and upgrades.
- Provide up‑to‑level help desk support and basic LAN/internetworking tasks.
- Possess A+ certification and at least one certification from Cisco or Microsoft; vendor certifications (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, HP) are a plus.
- Be a self‑starter, able to manage multiple tasks independently or as part of a team, with excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Available for flexible work schedules.
- 3+ years of IT infrastructure field support experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and networking.
- Experience with Windows 10 & 11 and Office Suite/O365.
- A+ certification;
Cisco or Microsoft certification required. - Vendor certifications (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, HP) are a plus.
