Physician - Deputy Chief of Staff

Join our Leadership Team at VA New Jersey Healthcare System! The Deputy Chief of Staff works closely with clinical service chiefs and performance measure champions to improve processes, achieve performance measure goals, and strengthen utilization management across the VA New Jersey Health Care System (VANJHCS).

The Deputy Chief of Staff reviews requests for clinical contracts, including the Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) contracts, and assists in determining the most effective method of acquiring needed resources. The Deputy Chief of Staff will have future supervisory responsibilities for a variety of clinical and administrative staff aligned under the Office of the Chief of Staff and serves on a wide range of medical center committees and task forces.

Responsibilities include direct clinical work, program oversight, clinical appeals, and administration of all aspects of patient care. The incumbent is accountable to the Chief of Staff for clinical program activities and for ensuring compliance with all VA, VHA, and VISN policies and procedures.

As part of the Deputy Chief of Staff role, direct clinical work will involve overseeing day‑to‑day clinical operations and providing strategic guidance to improve patient care quality and efficiency.
