Job SummaryUnit Clerk to support the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, B.C.
Relief position available until April 2027 or until the return of the incumbent.

- Prioritize, process, coordinate, and transcribe physicians' orders, including entering information into the computer and distributing it; follow up as necessary.
- Schedule, book, and coordinate patient appointments, arrange tests, and maintain appointment diaries.
- Act as a communication link for the area by contacting other facilities and departments, managing bed booking, and providing information to visitors.
- Assemble and maintain patient charts, transcribe data into the health record system, attach documents, and forward discharged records to Health Records.
- Answer telephones, transfer calls, take messages, and handle routine inquiries.
- Perform related clerical duties such as data entry, filing, preparing reports, ordering supplies, and arranging equipment repairs.
- Maintain timekeeping records for staff and submit payroll data; process leave and termination requests.
- Communicate nursing staff illness or absence information, manage relief nursing staff, and refer problems to the Manager of Clinical Services.
- Maintain records on relief staff (names, contact, availability, hours worked).
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience: Grade 12, medical terminology, completion of a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out duties.
- Keyboard proficiency at 40 wpm.
- Organizational skills.
- Equipment operation ability.
- Computer software application proficiency.
