OverviewOur client is a prominent global investment firm known for its contrarian philosophy and commitment to long-term value. They are seeking a Fund Accountant to join their operations team based in the Lower Mainland. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity of fund data and providing high-level service to internal stakeholders, including portfolio managers and traders. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, agile environment and is eager to take ownership of complex financial processes.
Responsibilities- Execute and oversee core fund accounting functions, including the calculation of net asset values (NAV).
- Manage relationships and day-to-day communications with external custodians and fund administrators.
- Direct the preparation and comprehensive review of semi-annual and annual financial statements to ensure regulatory and accounting standard compliance.
- Lead both small and large-scale initiatives to streamline business workflows and facilitate the launch of new investment products.
- Collaborate with technical teams and IT developers to enhance internal tools, mitigate operational risks, and increase process efficiency.
- Perform essential team functions including fee payments, reconciliations, and security pricing.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholder inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of fund-related information.
- Develop specialized expertise in areas such as corporate actions, tax, and financial reporting based on interest and business needs.
- Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or an equivalent advanced professional program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience within a public accounting firm (ideally Big
4) specializing in financial audit or tax, or a comparable industry role. - A strong intellectual curiosity and a keen interest in the investment and financial services industry.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and take full ownership of assigned projects and tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to share ideas and challenge the status quo.
- A collaborative mindset suited for a results-driven, professional team environment.
Salary/Rate Range: $90,000 - $115,000 (plus discretionary bonus)
