We are seeking a Fund Accountant to join our Fund Operations Team in Burnaby, British Columbia. You will be joining a results-driven, collaborative and professional team, focusing on obtaining and providing accurate information to internal and external stakeholders including our portfolio managers, traders and clients.
What will your responsibilities be?You will be expected to develop an in-depth understanding of how our funds work and serve our client’s needs, our counter parties and our providers. This will give you the opportunity to learn how Orbis fits in the wider financial services industry. You will be exposed to a wide range of responsibilities to our stakeholders, the core responsibilities include:
- Support core team functions including security pricing, reconciliations, fee payments and fund valuations.
- Support the preparation and review of annual & semi-annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Providing fund-related information to stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Investigating and responding to stakeholder queries on a timely basis.
- Leading small and large-scale projects aimed at improving and streamlining business processes and launching new investment products.
- Working closely and collaborating with IT developers to ensure that the necessary tools are available to address the risk of error and to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes.
- Completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program or equivalent advanced training related to the role.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a public accounting firm with financial audit or tax experience, or an equivalent role in industry, Big 4 experience preferred.
- Prior experience in financial services is not mandatory; however, a keen interest in the investment industry is an asset.
The annual base salary for this position will be between $90,000 and $115,000 per year excluding benefits. The total compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus.
