Financial Analysis Expert

Become a vital member of the City of Burnaby's Finance Department as a Financial Analyst. This role involves detailed financial analysis, budget preparation, and effective systems management.

Reporting to the Manager of Budgets and Reporting, you will engage in analyzing expenditures, preparing financial reports, and supporting the development of budgets. Your financial acumen will facilitate the identification and rectification of budget variances, and your system knowledge will aid in modifying existing accounting procedures. Collaboration with IT and senior management is key to success in this position.

• Conduct financial and economic analyses for municipal programs
• Prepare documents for financial reporting and auditing
• Support the annual and capital budget formulations
• Recommend enhancements to accounting systems
• Perform capital debt analysis and payment scheduling

• Completion of CPA designation required
• Considerable experience in financial analysis
• Expertise in budget management systems
