Location: New Westminster, BC, On-site, 5 days per week
Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of extension
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (8:30am–4:30pm)

About the OpportunityAltis Recruitment is proud to support an organization in the Education sector in finding a HR Generalist for a 3-month contract. You’ll play a hands‑on role supporting employees and faculty, ensuring HR operations run smoothly and consistently. You’ll work closely with the Vancouver team and partner with the Toronto HR team to deliver effective, people‑focused HR services.

Your Responsibilities- You’ll support onboarding and orientation for new employees and faculty, ensuring policies and procedures are clearly communicated
- You’ll prepare employment contracts in collaboration with department managers and HR leadership
- You’ll manage offboarding processes, coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion
- You’ll track and assign mandatory training, maintaining accurate compliance and training records
- You’ll assist with payroll, benefits, and timesheet inquiries, ensuring system and scheduling compliance
- You’ll coordinate full-cycle recruitment for faculty and staff, including job postings, screening, interviews, reference checks, and onboarding
- You’ll maintain complete, accurate, and compliant recruitment files
- You’ll draft, review, and maintain job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers
- You’ll coordinate and track employee performance evaluations and provide guidance to managers on appraisals and coaching
- You’ll support employee relations matters, exercising sound judgment and discretion
- You’ll participate in cross‑department committees to promote collaboration and alignment
- You’ll support health and safety initiatives, including participation in the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- You’ll provide general HR administrative support and assist with special projects as needed
- 3+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Coordinator
- Experience in an education or non‑profit environment is considered an asset
- Strong recruitment experience, ideally supporting faculty or academic hiring
- Solid understanding of HR policies, employee relations, and administrative processes
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems and Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High level of discretion when handling confidential information
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
