Position: Senior Manager, Talent Development & Learning (14 Month Contract)

Position Overview

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms … We are seeking a Senior Manager, Talent Development & Learning on a 14‑month contract (parental leave cover). Ideal candidates will be located in Vancouver, BC but are also open to Calgary and Toronto.

Team Overview

The Talent Development & Learning (TD&L) team fuels Clio's growth by bridging today’s skills with tomorrow’s potential. We design high‑impact learning solutions that empower our people to excel now while building strategic programs— from leadership development to talent management and coaching—that support our talent across career stages.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead a high‑performing team of TD&L professionals and mentor managers and portfolio leads to build bench strength.
  • Talent Management: Evolve and oversee global talent management programs, including the annual Talent Systems Cycle, mid‑year promotion cycle, 360 feedback, succession planning and more.
  • Global Onboarding: Partner with the Sr. Manager of Learning to continuously optimize the Global Onboarding Experience, ensuring cultural integration and minimizing time‑to‑productivity across all regions.
  • Leadership Development: Guide the launch of Leadership Behaviours and integrate them across talent programs; provide strategic direction for world‑class development programs and coaching for key cohorts (Key Talent, Emerging Leaders, Mid‑Level Management, Senior Leaders).
  • AI Fluency & Enablement: Build AI capability across the business by partnering with the Sr. Manager, Learning to design and deliver enablement programs that grow AI fluency at all levels; integrate AI fluency into performance management globally.
  • Measurement & Impact: Measure and report program KPIs—including behavioural change and effectiveness—and translate talent data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Strategy & Planning: Drive execution of the TD&L strategy through goal setting, KPIs, quarterly/annual roadmaps.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

    Partner with broader People teams to coordinate efforts and deliver a seamless employee experience.
  • Learning Infrastructure: Oversee the LMS, content strategy, vendor relationships and AI‑enabled tools.
  • DIBE Integration: Systematically embed Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity principles in all talent processes.
  • Budget & Reporting: Own reporting and narrative for success, budget utilisation and business impact of all TD&L initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive HR or Talent Development experience, including leading talent programs and teams in organisations of 2000+ employees.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing high‑performing teams and building bench strength.
  • Deep knowledge of talent management practices: performance management, succession planning, 360 feedback, career development program design.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering leadership development programmes and learning solutions across all leadership levels.
  • Hands‑on experience in learning experience design and infrastructure (LMS, course authoring, content libraries, emerging AI solutions).
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and hands‑on fluency, actively using AI tools to rethink how teams work.
  • Strategic and executional balance; able to set vision and roll up sleeves to deliver.
  • Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills across People CoEs, business partners, leaders and senior stakeholders.
  • Data storytelling: ability to translate talent data and metrics into compelling narratives.

  • Experience leading TD&L in hyper‑growth tech.
  • Experience building AI capability across a workforce and integrating AI into performance evaluations and talent practices.
  • Experience with Workday HRIS or similar enterprise HR systems.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and learning technology platforms.
