Senior Legal Counsel

The client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for a hybrid role, requiring one day in the office each week. The position involves insurance defense litigation work for a prominent financial services organization. The primary responsibilities include providing legal advice on insurance defense matters, managing cases from start to finish, and drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents related to insurance claims and litigation.

The role also entails representing the client in legal proceedings, including court appearances and mediations, alongside offering guidance on risk management and regulatory compliance.

In addition to handling litigation strategies in collaboration with external counsel, the successful applicant will be expected to stay informed on changes in insurance laws and regulations specific to Alberta. Strong relationship-building skills are critical, as the role requires developing effective working relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
