Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic will inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace or rebuild pumps, replace fan bearings, replace motors, repair screw conveyors, rebuild or change gearboxes, install and modify pipelines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects.
Main Responsibilities:
Repair, maintain, install, replace, troubleshoot and diagnose various machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, belts and fans utilizing hand tools and testing instruments.Inspect completed repairs and recommend appropriate solution.Perform all work with strict adherence to all applicable safety legislation and procedures.Estimates time and material costs on electrical and mechanical projects.Requisition supplies and materials as required and approved by management.Work from engineering drawings rough sketches, manuals or verbal instruction and install equipment to diagram specifications.Complete work orders as required and ensures appropriate follow-up communication.Disassemble machines and repair/replace/adjust parts accordingly.Clean and lubricate equipment, parts and machinery.Maintain equipment in proper operating condition.Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to efficiently manage and track work orders. Ensures timely follow-up on assigned tasks and provides comprehensive reports upon completion of each work order.Assist co-workers with any questions or issues regarding task completion.Takes rotating, on-call, back shifts, and holidays.Other tasks as assigned by management.Qualifications
Knowledge,
Skills and Experience:
High school or GED diploma.3-5 years of millwright experience.1-3 years of Welding Experience (Arc
- Mig
- Tig).1-3 years of CMMS experience.1-3 years of heavy industry experience preferred.1-3 years of experience with turbines, crane grapples, and other common equipment in the waste to energy industry(Good to have).Industrial Mechanic(Millwright).Holds a welding and/or pipefitting trade certificate(Highly Recommended).Training in operation of mechanical drives, hydraulic pumps and valves, pneumatics, electronics and control systems(good to have).Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions)Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.).Must consistently demonstrate the ability to perform all assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.Must demonstrate ability to efficiently maintain, install and repair a variety of equipment which may include pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors and blowers.Must demonstrate ability to use precision measuring devices, testing equipment and shop tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinder, and torque wrench.Must demonstrate the ability to inspect and diagnose process problems in multiple unit processes, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic equipment and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.Must demonstrate ability to estimate time and material costs for assigned projects.Steel fabrication and welding experience may be required if necessary at site.Ability to operate Computer…
