CARPENTER TRADES II
Job Function

Reports to the Maintenance Manager, or designate

Performs a variety of skilled and other tasks related to maintenance and repair of school district buildings, grounds and equipment under minimum supervision

Performs carpentry assignments ranging from minor repairs through to skilled journeyman work of design and manufacture of a variety of items

Repairs such items as doors, windows, floors, walls, ceilings, etc.

Builds and/or assists in the construction of offices, classrooms, furniture, etc.

May include the maintenance of work quality and accuracy

May involve the coordination of work, including the assignment of work and personnel

Assists other trades as required

Other related duties as required

Qualifications

Grade 12 or equivalent

BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Carpentry work (TQ)

Valid B.C. driver’s license

Ability to perform a standard of workmanship at a tradesman’s level

Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the trade

Skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade

Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions

Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, students and the community

Hours Of Work & Salary
Temporary position working 40 hours per week, 7:00a.m. – 3:00p.m., Monday – Friday, at $40.70 per hour
