Low Voltage Technician - High-End Custom Residential

Provident Security | Vancouver, BC

The Short Version

You’ve spent years doing careful, detailed work in beautiful homes – maybe in security, maybe in audio, automation, or lighting control. You’re tired of volume shops where the job ends when the wires are pulled and nobody ever sees the house again. You want to build systems you’re proud of, for clients who notice the difference, and support that work for years.

Who

We’re Looking For

We’re hiring an experienced technician for custom residential security and integration work. Direct security experience is great – but it’s not required. If your background is in audio/video, home automation, lighting control, or networking, and that experience was in high‑end custom residential, we want to hear from you. We can teach you our security systems. We can’t teach the judgment, discretion, and finish quality that come from working in homes where everything has to be right.

What

matters to us:
  • 3+ years in low voltage work – security, AV, automation, lighting, or networking – in custom residential environments
  • You take genuine pride in clean work: tidy terminations, labeled cabling, dressed racks, no shortcuts
  • You’re comfortable on job sites with builders, designers, and other trades – and you communicate well with all of them
  • You can be trusted, without supervision, to do the right thing
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract
What You’ll Do

You’ll install, program, and service security and integrated systems in custom homes (and some light commercial) primarily on Vancouver’s Westside, the North Shore, Bowen Island, and Whistler. The work spans the full project lifecycle: pre‑wire and rough‑in coordination with builders, full system installation, programming and commissioning, client walk‑throughs, and ongoing service – often for the same homes, over many years.

You’ll work independently and as part of a small, experienced team. The environments demand discretion, excellent communication, and meticulous attention to detail – and they reward it.

Systems you’ll work with:
  • DSC Neo, ELK, Avigilon Unity & Alta, , ELAN/Nice, Lutron, 2N

Already know some of these? Great. Know competing platforms instead? Also great – platform knowledge transfers; standards don’t.

Why This Role Is Different

Most low voltage jobs are transactional: install, invoice, move on. Provident is the opposite. We’re Vancouver’s only full‑service security company – we design, install, monitor, and physically respond to the systems we deploy, with our own 24/7 monitoring station and a guaranteed five‑minute response. Your installation isn’t the end of a job; it’s the start of a client relationship that often lasts decades.

That changes how the work feels. There’s no incentive to rush, because we’re the ones who service it next year. There’s no cutting corners, because our response team relies on these systems working. And there’s real career runway – into project leadership, technical design, or system consulting – because we keep the expertise in-house.

Since 1996, we’ve earned a reputation for discretion, quality, and reliability serving some of the most high‑profile homes and clients in Canada. We hire people who protect that reputation.

What We Offer
  • Competitive, top‑of‑market hourly compensation
  • Optional condensed work week (e.g., 4x10s or Tuesday–Saturday)
  • Company vehicle, fuel card, tools, laptop, and phone
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Clear growth paths into project leadership, technical design, or consulting
  • A respectful, well‑organized environment where careful work is recognized, not rushed
How to Apply

Submit your resume with a cover letter telling us why you’d be a great fit at Provident – including what kind of work you’ve done in custom residential and what you’re proudest of. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
