BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full‑time (1.0 FTE) faculty member in Welding to teach in our Welding programs. With over 45,000 students enrolled in certificate, diploma, apprenticeship and degree programs, BCIT offers a collaborative learning environment focused on teaching excellence and the preparation of outstanding graduates. The ideal candidate will bring dynamic individuals with diverse heavy industry experience and a willingness to commit to teaching excellence.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities within the Welding Department include instruction of apprentice and entry level students to upgrading journeymen on multi‑process procedures. The candidate will prepare lesson plans, deliver classroom lectures, demonstrate practical skills, care for, repair and maintain equipment, and work collaboratively with the Department Head and support staff.
Qualifications- IP Red seal journeyman welder with BC level “A” or out of province equivalent.
- Minimum five years at journeyman level.
- Must have pressure welding experience and hold current pressure qualifications.
- Strong welding skills in various processes gained in heavy industry.
- Supervisory experience.
- Repairing and maintenance welding equipment and machinery experience. Welding inspection certification is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate or be willing to advance knowledge and skills necessary to instruct curriculum.
- Demonstrate or be willing to train for computer skills that are necessary to instruct curriculum.

SalaryRange
$82,891 - $122,857 per annum.
Additional Salary InformationSalary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
