Bricklayer

Education and Experience

Registered Apprenticeship certificate. 1 year to less than 2 years of experience or equivalent.

• Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units.
• Estimate materials, tools and equipment required for projects.
• Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing.
• Construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
• Work at heights on scaffolding or swing stages.
• Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
• Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces.
• Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.

• Supervision experience with bricklayers.
• Cleaning experience with brick and stone building exteriors.

• Physically demanding; handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling.
• Own tools and equipment required.
• Safety equipment: steel-toed safety boots, hard hat.

• Shift or on-call work may be required.
