HVAC Technician Apprentice BC

We are looking for our next HVAC Apprentice to join our Burnaby, BC location!

This role has been designated as On‑Site – In‑person required. Work must be done on site daily.

As an HVAC Field Technician Apprentice, you will assist HVAC Field Technicians in installing and repairing environmental control systems, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, control systems, pipe fitting, and structural layouts. You will build relationships with customers, vendors, and co‑workers through effective oral and written communication. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests, including replacement and modifications of equipment or systems.

You will assist and learn end‑to‑end testing, starting up, commissioning, and servicing assigned projects.

• Represent the company as the direct customer contact and service products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at the customer’s location.
• Coordinate with supervising field technician/project manager and customer to precisely understand on‑site installation and repair requirements, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on‑site work.
• Use cutting‑edge software and technology along with hand tools to diagnose and repair units following blueprints or engineering specifications.
• Enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company‑issued and procured assets by recording use, wear, and conditions.
• Display team effort and dedication by maintaining flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight stays as the business requires.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or a certificate of completion from an accredited technical school.
• Preferred but not mandatory: 2+ years of experience in HVAC, Technical School, or formal training.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and working proficiency with a handheld computer (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major recurring traffic violations. Must not have:
  • DUI in the previous 5 years.
  • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
• Preferred but not mandatory: previous Red Seal Trade qualification.

• Must operate a vehicle safely using a seat belt.
• Must wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness, and safety boots while performing job duties.
• Must twist the trunk of the body 90 degrees in each direction, squat to touch the floor, reach hands over the head, and stand on concrete surfaces for up to 4 hours.
• Must lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. regularly, and 40 lbs. frequently, with possible occasional lifting over 40 lbs. with special approval.
• Must safely use a ladder with a 375 lb total weight limit while wearing equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Must maneuver through access areas as small as 30” vertical × 45” horizontal.
• Must access rooftops comfortably and routinely with ladders at heights of 15-20 ft, occasionally up to 50 ft or more.
• May be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, and noisy operating equipment.
