Job overviewThe post holder will hold the necessary maintenance skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical and electrical engineering services and building plant. Although primarily working on their own outside normal working hours is an integral member of the Maintenance team and should be able to demonstrate leadership skills. This will involve planning, organising activities and working across trade groups and with contractors staff to provide an effective maintenance, repair and installation service, which is responsive to the users needs.
The post holder will participate on a fixed rota system and be required to cover for shift team absences to maintain service continuity.
Main duties of the jobTo carry out maintenance work in a safe environment and to a high quality as directed by the Supervisor on the full range of engineering services, plant, equipment. Including the Building Management System, plumbing services, steam/gas/electric heating plant, ventilation plant, cold water services and building fabric. Steam boiler maintenance and safe working to PM5 shall be required. Work also extends to Fire Alarm, Nurse Call, Security, Medical Gas, Laundry, Catering, LV and Emergency electrical systems.

Please note, although this role is being advertised by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, it will transfer to OneLSC a Corporate Collaboration hosted by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust on 1.11.24. There are no plans to change the location of the role.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesHave the ability to interpret technical detailed manuals, undertake complex fault diagnose using cause effect analysis, repair and test complex Trust Engineering installations, plant and equipment and building elements. The post holder as first responder shall deal with emergency situations.
Be conversant with the current edition of the Electrical Safety Code for Low Voltage Systems for Competent Persons.
Be able to inspect patients personal electrical equipment advise on safe use and conduct PAT testing.
Work within the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) System and to adhere to all managerial requirements.
Maintain records of work carried out in accordance with working practices.
Ensure the security of all plant, equipment and buildings under the jurisdiction of the Maintenance Department.
Carry out installation improvement works.
Drive Trust vehicles to assist in the collection and delivery of maintenance items and service delivery in accordance with the Trust Transport Policy.
Person specification- Attained a recognised City and Guilds Advanced Craft certified qualification or equivalent plus significant post apprenticeship experience. Or NVQ level 3 maintenance engineering or equivalent
- Be able to demonstrate competence in the required range of technical aspects applicable to the post.
- Demonstrate a minimum of twelve months previous experience in a maintenance craft role within a large site environment having completed a recognised building/engineering apprenticeship.
- Proven ability to understand detailed procedures, understand technical drawings and diagrams and diagnose technical faults.
- Hold a current UK driving licence.
- Relevant accredited NVQ and NHS Technical Qualifications.
