Staff Accountant

Location: Burnsville, MN (Onsite, Full-Time)
Compensation: Up to $80,000 per year + bonus + profit sharing + full benefits

About the Role

A long‑standing, privately held organization in the construction materials industry is seeking a dependable, hands-on Staff Accountant to join its small, highly collaborative finance team. This is a newly created role supporting growth, process improvement, and modernization efforts within the accounting function.

This role is onsite in Burnsville, MN, with occasional flexibility for weather or urgent needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full‑cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and month‑end close tasks
  • Weekly payroll processing (union and non‑union)
  • Vendor management, invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliations
  • Assist with basic compliance, reporting, and tax support
  • Support upcoming accounting system upgrade (Sage 50 → Sage 100)
  • Assist in digitizing paper‑based workflows (e.g., timesheets, invoicing)
  • Provide cross-functional support within a small, close‑knit team
  • Participate in ongoing operational and administrative projects
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or small‑business accounting experience
  • Strong AP/AR, payroll, and general ledger skills
  • Experience assisting with month‑end close
  • High reliability, strong communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new systems and adapt to process improvements
  • Exposure to inventory concepts (costing, materials, job costing, etc.)
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, field services, or related industries
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
