Schedule: 20 hours per week (Part-Time)
Reports to: Communications Director
Job Summary
The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for creating and posting engaging content on all of Berean's social media platforms with the purpose of broadening Berean's voice and Gospel impact. This role is integral to the Communications team, contributing to creative processes and strategy while helping fulfill Berean's mission.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Social Media Management & Engagement
- Serve as Berean's authentic digital voice across all social media platforms
- Foster meaningful connections with our online community through timely responses to comments, messages, and mentions
- Create and maintain a consistent, approachable tone that reflects Berean's values and mission
- Monitor social media trends and adapt our approach to maximize engagement
- Build relationships with congregation members and community through social interactions
- Strategic Content Planning & Calendar Management
- Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies aligned with church events and initiatives
- Create dynamic content calendars that balance ministry announcements, spiritual content, and community engagement
- Schedule and coordinate posts across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Content Creation
- Capture compelling photos and videos that tell the story of Berean's vibrant community
- Create eye-catching stories, reels, and posts (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
- Edit and optimize media for different social platforms
- Stay current with design trends and best practices
- Comfortable using emerging tools, including AI, to enhance creativity, efficiency, and content performance
- Align social media initiatives with broader church communication strategies
- Partner with ministry leaders to effectively promote their events and initiatives
- Share insights and analytics to inform team decision-making
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for new content ideas
- Attend team and all-staff meetings as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education Requirements
High school diploma
Knowledge Requirements
- Fluency in social media trends and best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs
- Proficient in Adobe apps and other design tools
- Knowledge of graphic design principles
- Knowledge of social media trends and best practices
- Experience editing short-form videos
Preferred Work Experience
- Social Media Management
- Graphic Design
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
