Responsibilities
- Prepare course objectives and outline for the course of study following curriculum guidelines or state and school requirements. Adapt material to accommodate student ability level and learning style.
- Deliver lectures, demonstrations, and use audiovisual teaching aids as well as other teaching methods to present subject matter to class.
- Prepare, administer, and correct tests, and record results.
- Assign lessons, correct papers, and assess oral presentations.
- Teach rules of conduct and maintain order of students.
- Counsel pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
- Discuss pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents and specialists, if necessary.
- Keep attendance and grade records as required by the school.
- Coordinate class field trips.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, open houses, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- All students can learn, and learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control.
- Student learning guides practice and decision‑making throughout the school and system.
- Shared accountability and responsibility through working interdependently.
- Fostering a commitment among staff and parent communities to create conditions for equity and excellence, resulting in elimination of the achievement gap.
- Promote a model that encourages professional reflection and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate high‑quality professional learning and remarkable outcomes through application.
- Effectively manage and lead change, including changing practices and structures that may perpetuate inequities.
- Outstanding skills in written and oral communication, talent management, and school operations.
- Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication tool to improve student achievement and manage work.
- Personal professional learning and development through a strong understanding of education literature, student learning, and leadership.
- Manage dialogue effectively, valuing alternative points of view in planning and decision‑making.
- Visible instructional leadership.
- Courage to do what is best for students.
- Licensed by the MN Department of Education as a K‑5 Elementary Teacher.
- Experience working cross‑culturally and/or commitment to improving cultural competence, valuing diversity, recognizing personal limitations, and a desire to learn in these areas.
