Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 is seeking qualified teachers for the District'sSpecial Education Program at the elementary and/or secondary level. We are seeking qualified applicants to create a safe and caring climate and culture in which all students are prepared, engaged, educated, empowered, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. Qualified applicants will be part of a collaborative team, assisting with providing individualized instruction and support to students with physical, developmental, and/or learning disabilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy
- Demonstrate knowledge of students' individual educational, physical, emotional, and developmental needs
- Select instructional goals aligned with student IEPs and state standards
- Demonstrate knowledge of resources and accommodations
- Design coherent and individualized instruction
- Assess and monitor student learning and progress
- Create an environment of respect and rapport
- Establish a culture for learning and inclusion
- Manage student behavior and provide consistent reinforcement
- Organize physical space to ensure safety and accessibility
- Work in an environment that is typically moderate in noise level, but may be loud depending on the student population
- Work with students in a variety of special education settings, including EBD, SLD, ECSE, MMI, MSI, and Speech programs
- Communicate clearly and accurately
- Use questioning and discussion techniques appropriate to student abilities
- Engage students in learning
- Provide feedback to students
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to individual needs
- Create learning materials geared to each student's abilities and interests
- Instruct students to improve sensory-motor, perceptual-motor, language, cognitive, and social/emotional development
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, administrators, and specialists
- Confer with parents, social workers, testing specialists, and other professionals regarding student progress and needs
- Reflect on teaching and student outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Communicate regularly with families
- Contribute to the school and district
- Show professionalism
- Read, analyze, and interpret scientific, technical, and legal documents
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory agencies, and members of the school community
- Effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or School Board
- Apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, proportions, area, volume, and basic algebra and geometry
- Solve practical problems and interpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule based instructions
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
- Maintain regular attendance and follow District rules, policies, and directives
- Adapt teaching techniques to fit individual student needs
- Demonstrate proficiency in word processing and data processing
- Bachelor s degree in Education or related field
- Valid and current Minnesota state teaching license with certification in area to be taught (e.g., EBD, SLD, ECSE, MMI, MSI, Speech)
