Working Hours:
M to F-8:45 AM to 3:00 PM, less a 30-minute lunch
Student Age Group: 1:1 support with a third-grade female student
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a third-grade student in the school setting.
- Communicate with the student using American Sign Language (ASL).
- Provide ASL translation/communication support between the student, teachers, staff, and others as needed.
- Assist the student in accessing classroom instruction, activities, and school routines.
- Support the student with daily educational and classroom activities under the direction of licensed school staff.
- Provide personal care assistance to the student as required.
- Help maintain the student's safety, comfort, and participation throughout the school day.
- Follow the student's individualized education and support plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel.
- Assist with transitions, classroom routines, and other school-related activities.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries when working with the student.
- Perform other paraprofessional duties as assigned by the school.
Qualifications:
- Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Ability to effectively communicate with a deaf/hard-of-hearing student using ASL.
- Ability and willingness to provide personal care to a female student.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school or special education setting.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a special education team.
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and implement student support strategies.
- Must be available for the full assignment period and required daily schedule.
