The Senior Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials Engineer will work initially in the Engines and MEMS Sensors design team developing highly reliable products that meet customer specified requirements and expectations at the lowest competitive cost. The engineer will be a highly motivated self‑starter who will lead their own projects, manage schedules, mentor other engineers, represent the organization as prime customer contact for existing products and new designs, and make presentations to customers.
WhatYou Will Do
- Support bids and proposals for new engine sensors
- Support existing designs with failure investigations, product improvements, and documentation updates
- Thoroughly review and understand product specifications and determine design requirements and scope of work
- Support complex, multi‑discipline teams
- Perform estimates of effort and duration for tasks
- Create and manage project schedules
- Requirements management and convergence planning
- Prepare and present stage‑gate design reviews internally and externally to customers
- Generate design concepts in conformance with requirements and perform adequate trade studies and analyses to arrive at optimum design configurations
- Perform tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit and function
- Be proficient in CAD solid modeling techniques to prepare component and assembly models and drawings
- Write test requests, support design verification testing, and coordinate with the test department
- Specify materials including high temperature, corrosion and oxidation resistant alloys
- Specify material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing
- Provide necessary engineering support for new hardware coordination and fabrication
- Provide MRB (Material Review Board) support and disposition of nonconforming products
- Interface with all other functional groups and departments required in product design development
- Use department computer technology independently and productively
- Work with the Global Engineering Center in India on technical design tasks
- Drive the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost‑effective technical solutions with a focus on platform design, reuse, and knowledge management
You Must Have:
- Degree in STEM and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree and minimum 3 years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage project schedules
- Experience managing compliance demonstration to customer or regulatory requirements
- Experience preparing and delivering design or project review presentations
- Experience writing test procedures, coordinating testing, and writing test reports
- Experience with materials properties/selection and manufacturing processes
We Prefer:
- 5+ years experience reviewing and determining product specifications, design requirements, scope of work, estimates of effort and duration, and generating design concepts with adequate trade studies and analyses
- 5+ years experience in requirements management and convergence planning, supporting complex projects and integrated cross‑functional teams, and program or project planning and resource management
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage project schedules, prepare and present stage‑gate design reviews internally and externally to customers, collaborate across disciplines, and resolve conflicts and negotiate effectively
Salary range: 86,800
USD – 165,200
