Principal Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials Engineer – Engines and MEMS Sensors Design Team

- Lead bids and proposals for new engine sensors, reviewing product specifications and determining design requirements
- Provide technical leadership to complex, multi‑discipline teams and mentoring to other engineers
- Develop and review estimates of effort and duration for tasks, support project cost and schedule development, and baselining
- Manage requirements and convergence planning, prepare, present, and review stage gate design reviews internally and externally to customers
- Generate and review design concepts that meet requirements, conduct trade studies and analyses to arrive at optimum configurations
- Perform and review tolerance analyses ensuring proper fit/function of components and assemblies
- Prepare drawings and solid‑model CAD representations of components and assemblies
- Write and review test requests and supporting design verification tests, coordinating with the test department
- Specify materials (high‑temperature, corrosion‑ and oxidation‑resistant alloys) and materials joining methods (welding, brazing)
- Provide MRB (Material Review Board) support and disposition of nonconforming product
- Interface with all functional groups and departments during product design development
- Cooperate with the Global Engineering Center in India on technical design tasks
- Use Lean Product Development tools to support cost‑effective solutions, focusing on platform design, reuse, and knowledge management
- Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety and International Trade Compliance regulations and policies
- Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience (or 5 years with an advanced degree)
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership on complex projects
- Experience managing compliance with customer or regulatory requirements
- Experience preparing and delivering design or project review presentations
- Experience writing test procedures, coordinating testing, and writing test reports
- Experience with materials properties/selection and manufacturing processes
- 10+ years experience reviewing product specifications and determining design requirements
- 10+ years experience performing estimates of effort and duration for tasks
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage project schedules
- 10+ years experience in requirements management and convergence planning
- Ability to prepare and present stage gate design reviews internally and externally to customers
- 10+ years experience generating design concepts in conformance with requirements, performing trade studies and analyses
- 10+ years experience leading or supporting complex projects and integrated cross‑functional teams
- Collaboration across engineering, operations, program office, and business development
