Position: Principal Project Engineer Lead, Engines and MEMS (Onsite)

Principal Project Engineer – Engines and MEMS (EMEMS) Sensors Design Department

The Principal Project Engineer will lead cross‑functional teams of hardware, software, and test engineers to develop highly reliable products that meet customer requirements at the lowest competitive cost. The role involves technical leadership, customer representation, mentoring, and driving innovation in the design and integration of MEMS‑based solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clear and concise communication with peers and leadership.
  • Develop, manage, and adjust project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure adherence to milestones and financial targets.
  • Document delays, scope changes, and other incidents impacting project scope or schedule.
  • Identify and implement mitigation plans for impacted projects.
  • Pursue cost‑saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Perform critical‑path analysis and implement work‑around plans for successful project completion.
  • Conduct meetings, consolidate, and present progress reports on business aspects of the project.
  • Identify project problems and recommend solutions, such as resource reallocation or specification changes.
  • Direct all project phases from inception through completion.
  • Oversee administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
  • Liaise between project management, planning, project teams, and production line management.
  • Coordinate preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements, specifications, and operating budgets.
  • Review project and budget status, manage schedules, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Manage and coordinate hardware and software development configurations throughout the engineering process.
  • Monitor and assess project issues, developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer‑satisfaction goals.
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to projects in technical manufacturing and administrative areas.
  • Establish design‑work scope content for concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product development, integration, and test.
  • Maintain integrated master schedules and meet program schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate hardware and software equipment modifications throughout the development process.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • STEM degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Prior experience managing and coordinating hardware and software development configurations throughout the engineering process.
  • Prior experience establishing design‑work scope content for concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product development, integration, and test.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Progressive technical and leadership responsibility on electronic development and integration programs.
  • Understanding of RTCA DO‑178, DO‑254, and DO‑160 requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present stage‑gate design reviews internally and externally to customers.
  • Ability to create and manage project schedules, perform estimates of effort and duration, and manage requirements and convergence planning.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
