Firefighter Trainee - Burnsville

Start your fire service career with Burnsville Fire as a full-time Firefighter Trainee. This role is designed for individuals who are building their certifications and ready to gain hands-on experience protecting life and property. Trainees respond to emergencies, assist with fire and rescue operations, support advanced life support medical calls, and participate in ongoing training while learning equipment, city response areas, and safety practices.

Our 55-member, all-hazards department operates from two stations and is committed to strong teamwork, professional development, and a comprehensive health and wellness program. Trainees have up to 24 months to obtain the certifications needed to transition into a Firefighter/Paramedic role.

Minimum qualifications include a valid driver's license and either Firefighter I & II with EMT certification, or current Paramedic certification, along with required NIMS coursework.
