Make a lasting impact by supporting a third-grade student as a Sign Language Interpreter throughout the  school year. This contract role is based near Burnsville, Minnesota, and offers the opportunity to develop a meaningful one-on-one connection while facilitating optimal learning for a young student. Your expertise will ensure full inclusion and communication access within the classroom environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture
  • Valid EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, with certification documentation
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-5, is highly valued
  • Ability to collaborate closely with educators, staff, and families
  • Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills
  • Adaptable, with a positive attitude and a student-centered approach

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a third-grade student during all school hours
  • Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) in various academic and social settings
  • Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, peers, and staff
  • Support classroom learning, activities, and participation, ensuring the students full engagement
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for educational interpreters
  • Monitor student progress and collaborate with the educational team regarding strategies and accommodations

This position follows a school-based schedule, commencing August 24, 2026, and ending June 3, 2027, with standard hours from 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding a 30-minute lunch break each day.
