Job Purpose
To maintain a safe, secure and clean environment for those attending Mass and programs, volunteering and working at the Church of the Risen Savior.
General ResponsibilitiesEmployment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees are held to a different and many times a higher standard of conduct. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. This position does not require that the employee be a Catholic. It is expected, however, that non-Catholic employees will respect Catholic doctrine and religious practices.
Reasonable accommodation for the religious practices of non-Catholics will similarly be provided.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work extra hours if needed for large events, special liturgies or to help cover hours when other custodians are on vacation.
- Pass a mandatory physical. (Requirement of the Archdiocese).
- Pass a mandatory background check. (Requirement of the Archdiocese).
- Attend a mandatory Virtus training session. (Requirement of the Archdiocese).
- Be able to lift and carry a minimum of fifty pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to move furniture.
- Ability to operate lawn/snowplow tractor.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor machines.
- If arriving first, unlock building, disarm security system and turn on lights.
- Check heating/air conditioning.
- Unlock any rooms that will be used.
- Make sure setups are done.
- Change tabernacle candle on Saturday morning.
- Maintain outside front walkway by clearing snow, putting down ice melt, record ice melt application.
- Clean and maintain restrooms.
- Dispose of garbage.
- Take care of maintenance situations as needed.
- Provide assistance to parishioners as needed.
- Evening duties as listed below.
- Ensure safe and secure environment by locking all doors after liturgy, programs or events start. Secure the main entry doors, assessing risk at all times.
- If leaving the building last, lock building and all doors, arm security system and turn off lights. Make sure there is no one left in the building.
- Coordinate at all times with other staff running programs or events to make sure the building is safe and secured, especially if leaving the building prior to end of program or event.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure safe and secure environment by locking all doors after liturgy, programs or events start. Secure the main entry doors, assessing risk at all times.
- Maintain outside front walkway by clearing snow, putting down ice melt, record ice melt application.
- Empty garbage in the office.
- Take care of maintenance situations as needed.
- Provide assistance to parishioners as needed.
- Make sure candles are out in the chapel.
- Make sure all outside and appropriate inside doors are locked and secure.
- If last staff member in building, lock building and all doors, arm security system and turn off lights. Make sure there is no one left in the building.
- Coordinate at all times with other staff running programs or events to make sure the building is safe and secured, especially if leaving the building prior to end of program or event.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attend relevant trainings, staff meetings, events, annual staff retreat and celebrations as determined by the Parish Administrator.
- Regularly review Paystub through Paycor.
- Stay current with Catholic Mutual and Safe Environment policies.
- Reliably be ready to work for scheduled hours.
- Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
