The Registered Nurse (RN) provides health services and clinical consultation within an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program serving individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. The RN supports rehabilitation and recovery by coordinating health care, monitoring psychiatric and medical stability, and assisting the treatment team in identifying immediate and ongoing health needs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Minnesota
- At least one year of experience working with adults with serious and persistent mental illness or co-occurring disorders
- Knowledge of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 245I and residential behavioral health services preferred
- CPR and First Aid certified with ability to respond to emergencies
- Ability to safely navigate stairs and residential environment
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs as needed
- Valid Class D driver’s license, reliable vehicle, acceptable driving record, and required insurance
- Complete nursing assessments and monitor residents’ physical and psychiatric health status
- Support prescribers by tracking symptoms, side effects, and treatment response
- Coordinate medical and psychiatric appointments and follow‑up care
- Provide health education related to wellness, medication, and symptom management
- Respond to urgent health concerns and provide clinical guidance to staff
- Oversee safe medication administration practices in accordance with 245I requirements
- Monitor for medication effectiveness and adverse reactions
- Educate residents on medications and promote informed participation in treatment
- Communicate relevant observations to prescribers and treatment team
- Participate in treatment team meetings and service planning
- Provide clinical consultation to staff regarding health and safety concerns
- Assist in identifying health‑related barriers to recovery and community stability
- Support development of interventions that promote independent living skills
- Coordinate care with hospitals, pharmacies, primary care, and specialty providers
- Assist residents in understanding and managing their health conditions
- Provide coaching related to symptom management, self‑care, and wellness routines
- Connect residents to community health resources to support transition to a lower level of care
- Document nursing assessments, health status changes, and interventions in accordance with 245I standards
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
- Support regulatory compliance, licensing reviews, and quality assurance processes
