The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.
Minnesota's National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) accredited, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recognized metrology laboratory seeks to onboard a Metrologist to join our team. Our laboratory is one of the premier state metrology laboratories and supports customers across Minnesota, the Midwest, and North America, by providing critical calibration services that help ensure accurate measurement and a fair, competitive marketplace.
The current workload includes mass calibrations (Echelons I, II, and III) and volume calibrations (transfer and gravimetric methods). Through hands‑on, on‑the‑job training and successful completion of NIST Office of Weights and Measures (OWM) courses, the selected candidate will develop proficiency in mass and volume calibration procedures and gain valuable experience in an accredited metrology laboratory.
In addition to performing calibrations, the Metrologist will contribute to continual improvement of laboratory operations, the quality management system, and customer service, while helping maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, NIST OWM, and NVLAP requirements. This position also offers opportunities to support the expansion of the laboratory's scope and take on projects that strengthen the capabilities and effectiveness of the Metrology team.
Primary work location will be Burnsville, Minnesota.
