Material Handling/Robotics Technician 1st Shift Lead - JLL
As a Material Handling/Robotics Technician 1st Shift Lead, you will be the technical expert and frontline leader ensuring seamless operations of sophisticated robotic and automated material handling systems in a dynamic warehouse environment. This critical leadership role combines electrical, mechanical, and robotic expertise with the ability to guide and mentor a technical team maintaining cutting‑edge automation technology that drives JLL's operational excellence.
You will troubleshoot complex integrated systems, perform preventative maintenance on robotic cells and conveyor equipment, and ensure continuous operations through proactive problem‑solving and team leadership. Your technical acumen, attention to detail, and leadership skills will directly contribute to minimizing downtime, maximizing equipment reliability, and maintaining the safety standards that define JLL's commitment to operational excellence.
- Lead and coordinate preventative and predictive maintenance routines on robotic systems, automated conveyors, and material handling equipment (MHE) with comprehensive documentation in CMMS systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical components including belts, motors, photo‑eyes, relays, PLCs, and robotic controls using technical schematics and programming documentation
- Maintain and troubleshoot robotic cells, conveyance systems, and automated storage/retrieval equipment to ensure optimal system performance
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, PLC programs, and robotic documentation to diagnose and resolve complex system integration issues
- Support cross‑functional collaboration across facility operations while tracking maintenance inventory and managing department supplies
- Promote and enforce safety protocols following OEM guidelines and established procedures in automated environments, setting the standard for your team
- Perform precision maintenance work in various physical positions including confined spaces, elevated areas, and challenging industrial conditions during 12‑hour shifts
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience with PC competency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical documentation, electrical schematics, and automation blueprints
- Strong problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting complex integrated systems combining mechanical, electrical, and software components
- Physical capability to lift up to 49 pounds, work 12‑hour shifts, and perform repetitive movements with manual dexterity for precision tasks
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures for working with automated equipment and robotic systems
- Excellent attention to detail for maintenance documentation and strong communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and team leadership
- Associate degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Technology, or related technical field
- Technical certifications in robotics, automation, industrial maintenance, or PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- 4+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated conveyor systems, robotic controls, and industrial automation equipment
- Experience with Auto Store ASRS or similar automated storage and retrieval systems
Knowledge of CMMS systems, lean maintenance practices, and reliability‑centered maintenance methodologies - Experience with PLC systems, industrial automation networks, predictive maintenance technologies, and condition monitoring systems
- Project management experience supporting automation initiatives and system integration projects
