We are looking to add a Material Handler to our team. This 1st Shift role is Monday – Friday 07:00am – 03:30pm.
Job SummaryThe primary function of the Material Handler is to unload bar stock from trucks using an overhead crane, prepare receiving paperwork, chamfer bars if necessary, print material tags, label and move stock to the material stocking racks. The role also includes cycle counting, moving bar stock with the forklift, maintaining a clean work environment, and performing QC inspection of incoming bar stock when required.
EssentialFunctions
- Unload bar stock from delivery trucks using an overhead crane
- Receive bar stock following the Bar Stock Receiving Procedure
- Chamfer bars and learn to operate CNC machinery
- Enter data into the computer system
- Print material tags and label all bar stock with them
- Color‑code bar ends when necessary
- Load bar stock onto racks using a forklift
- Maintain accurate counts of bar stock through cycle counting
- Monitor the Bar Stock Requirements report to ensure material is available for current jobs throughout all shifts
- Return wooden boxes to supplier
- Perform QC inspection of incoming bar stock when required
- Maintain clean working environment
- Perform the job with minimal supervision
- Assist operators in locating and moving material based on requirements
- Other assignments as required by the Vice President CNC Operations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer literate
- Basic math skills, including measuring with tape and or caliper and use of a calculator
- English language communication skills (written and verbal)
- Must frequently lift up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, and occasionally sit as required by the job duties
- Vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
The role operates machinery to chamfer bar ends, an overhead crane to unload trucks and a forklift to move bar stock in a manufacturing environment. Noise level is usually moderate.
